Kurt Russel .. 1989 ..

So, Richard Arrington did the make-up for the movie "Winter People" staring Kurt Russel & Kelly McGillis it was a love story - serious historical drama - set in the depression.. Kurt Russel played kinda like a whimp .. nice stretch for him .. like when a beautiful actress goes ugly plays a monster woman - ... Also in the movie was Sean Penn's mother Eileen Ryan.. the movie was, filmed in North Carolina .. They were back from location and doing pick up shots at Laird Studios in Culver City .. and, I was invited for lunch!! So, I go to the set and have lunch with Richard Arrington / Elle Elliot who did the hair.. and the stars.. later, in the week I go with Richard and Elle to Malibu to the ranch of Eileen Ryan and have another lunch. What a cool spread they had.. RANCH all the way the decor was 1960's TV western set furniture .... it was on a bluff overlooking the pacific ocean.. Johnny Carson had the front beach property. Then Lee Grant had the house in the middle, no beach access at all.. Then the Penn's had the back lets say at least an acre, maybe more .. with a way to get to the beach by way of a back path .. So, she had a dinning room that was off the kitchen, it was all one big like wooden old cowboy type table, booths around that. It took up the whole room.. So, that was fun and then she took us for the walk on the beach. She was lovely ... and they had two bunk houses no pool. Two tennis courts ... Kurt Russel said at lunch that Goldie Hawn had just bought a convertible Bentley .. and took the Warner Bros. - Jet - to India !!!
