John Carpenter "They Live" 1988 ..

I rented a nice bungalow on N. Curson Ave. in West Hollywood from 1985-1995 it had five huge palm trees had been part of the Charlie Chaplin orange grove estate back in the day the house was built around 1907 so cute, my business in Marbella was a little slow, I put some dresses in a trunk packed up suitcases full of them for the plane and I got a ride with Adnan Khashoggi who was going on his 707 jet plane to Los Angeles. At the Malaga airport the pilot said we need gas he pulled out a credit card and filled it up much like you and I do our car. I went to Hollywood to try and sell some dresses to my friends like Elle Elliott, Constance More, Jennifer Jones, Grace Robbins, Rory Flynn and Kaija Keel the daughter of Howard Keel and wife of Edward James Olmos at the time, they had bought a nice big house in Encino in the valley with there "Miami Vice" money and invited me to a party. I met John Carpenter there and we started to talk about Aliens,I told him the story about Arndt Krupp and him shapeshifting into a reptilian. He was working on a script. "They Live" He sent it to me and it was great and I called him and said so. He offered me the part of the Master Ghoul, the aliens, I needed money so I took it.... Frank, the make-up man and myself started working on the make-up, we made five masks, I had to put straws up my nose etc. would never do that again. They needed five TV commercials to insert into the movie. I went with the hair and make-up to Venice beach, to a real production company that did that. I had a huge mobile home real star stuff !! We did them, Carpenter liked the work , however, the production manager paid them and us three like if you did five nation wide commercials money and then he sent

John the bill at Universal and John fired the production manager. We kept filming the movie, and the Los Angeles Times did a story in there Calendar section , but, the thing is he wanted to get his money's worth out of me, he couldn't fire me he had to much invested and why would he, it wasn't my fault. I had already cashed the check and that kept my shop girl and seamstress employed in Marbella for a couple of months. So, anyway there was some tension between us so. Bad deal for me I wanted to work for him again. I did the master shot and the big scene downtown at the Ambassador Hotel. He had me in the full make-up for the third day and did not use me in a scene, so, towards the end of the shoot, I told him I quit and .. walked off the set! I saw him on TV in an interview and he was saying how he now realized how much of a drag acting in a prosthetic mask was because he had put one on himself and tried it .. He is a fine A+ list director and I was happy to get the chance to work with him and I was glad to give the stunt man that got my job a bump up. In the movie you could see the Alien with special sun glasses. I think that was instead of saying L.S.D. not really sure if the sunglasses were a metaphor - they were to me !!
